LET’S DO THIS!

OUR CHALLENGE

We love taking home restaurant leftovers to enjoy later. We DO NOT love the take-home containers. In the U.S. alone 80 million tons of Styrofoam, plastic and paper are used to make these unnecessary containers every year. Then they leach toxic chemicals into our food. We use them once and throw them away. Even if put in recycling bins, most end up in landfills and oceans where they release toxins and kill wildlife.

Plastic takes about 1,000 years to degrade and Styrofoam never degrades at all – never.
By 2050 there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean.

Recycled cardboard containers are not a solution because making them has a heavy carbon footprint. They are also still used only once. Some are compostable but only in rare industrial composting facilities, and some release greenhouse gases when decomposing.

OUR MISSION
To make the earth cleaner and healthier for future generations.

Phase 1
Replace the current normal – toxic single-use, restaurant-provided leftover containers
with a new normal – healthy, reusable containers brought and filled by diners.

Phase 2
Eliminate single-use containers for TAKEOUT, too. This will require legal and political action, including health code changes. So, for now we are addressing LEFTOVERS only.
We’re saving the earth one step at a time.

OUR PROGRAM
We network with diners, asking them to bring reusable containers for leftovers. We partner with restaurants to actively encourage diners to do this. The switch from a restaurant’s single-use containers to a diner’s reusable containers has a huge positive impact.
Diners are healthier, restaurants are wealthier, and the earth is cleaner.
Everyone wins.

LET’S DO THIS!
Every positive change we make adds up to a big difference! Embracing this new normal is smart, easy and just feels good. Embracing the new normal is smart, easy and just feels good.
